Blessing of the Chapel…and a sweet gift
A few days ago I made a short trip to Mazatlán after being invited by the Sisters at the Ciudad de los Niños orphanage to attend the dedication of their new chapel. The liturgy, celebrated by the Most Rev. Mario Espinosa Contreras, Bishop of Mazatlán, was beautiful and marked by reverence and joy. I provided the music for the Mass, playing the Yamaha Clavinova installed this past January while singing. Although the singers who were scheduled to join me caught colds and couldn’t come, everything still came together smoothly.
After the liturgy concluded, we moved to the next room where donors and special guests enjoyed a pleasant lunch together.
Some of the children are posing for a group photo. A piano I brought for them appears in the background.
A few days ago, when I arrived in Mazatlán and went straight from the airport to the orphanage, a little girl approached me and said she enjoyed learning “how to use Safari” (two undergraduates from the local university had come to teach the children how to use the iMac computers brought to Mazatlán). A few minutes later she came back with two candies she wanted me to have. How sweet.
I am going to gain a few pounds.
